"Best invention in years" - a public health nurse
It sounded too good to be true so I went over every bit of their documentation, of which there is ample. Besides myself, everybody knowledgeable like it: The UN, the aid organizations, the disaster organizations. Sawyer has sold or supplied millions of them, for good reason. If there is any question about your water - camping, power outage, disaster, cheap motel, RV - BUY AND USE THIS. It is cheap (very cheap) insurance. waste of money
I woulkd give this product a 0 rating if it were possible. We have so much chlorine and floride in our water that we cannot drink it, so we have been buying our water for some time now. When I ran across this on e-bay, I was impressed by all the positive product reviews, so I ordered it. After filtering enough water to fill an already half full gallon of pure water, it ruined the whole gallon! It does nothing to change the taste of water, so I would not recommend or think about using it to filter water from a stream or lake. Waste of money.Verified purchase: YesCondition: New

This was recommended by a backwoods wild fire responder to allow carrying less water.
I took it with me into the Sawtooth National Forest so I didn't need to carry lots of water. I got this after talking with a Sawtooth firefighter/medical responder in the area that it is what he uses in the Sawtooths. Hey! Even in what I think is some of the most beautiful and pristine areas of the US, you don't know what deer just discharged (or whatever) just upstream. A good device you hope never to use.
Better than life straw bc filter is 1 micron as life straw has a 2 micron filter that is only good fof 10.000 litres then has to be replaced, sawyer comes with a syringe to clean out your filter but is flimsy and a pain, anyway in an emergency you boil water first, get a fire starter, bc this will kill any virus in the water, the filter will stop bacteria and protozoa but not virus, so be prepared to boil water first before useing device, a way to get around this is to buy water purification tabs.Verified purchase: YesCondition: New

When water is basic for the basic to live. If you want clean water, no odors/smells but real reliable drinking water . . . You might consider a water filter. At home might be easy to have clean water. The issue is out home. To carry your water or buy it (pay for it) no more. I found a solution with Sawyer Filter System. I think about Sawyer Filter as serious people who get me serious solution for clean water. Now, see clean water available every where. I do always leave home with a mini Sawyer, just to have the best possible drinking water for me and my people, my family. I really take 1 to 3 Sawyers available and ready to go out with my family. A mania? I'd say awareness about water that "looks" translucent but you kow, it can be better. No body care more than you for the "yours" but yourselve. So, take a Sawyer for you and the beloved.
