"Liquid Lipstick" and yet not
With the liquid lipstick craze currently taking over the makeup world, I automatically assumed these bad boys would be just like the other umpteen brands of liquid lipstick I've tried. Definitely not the case.
Too Faced Melted lipsticks are marketed as "liquid lipsticks" and yet they do not dry and mattify at all like other liquid lipsticks. These are oil-based lipsticks, and are much more slick and wet feeling than a typical liquid lipstick. That being said, I didn't hate these right off the bat, but was more confused than anything. I kept waiting for it to dry and turn matte; instead I discovered that these felt very hydrating while actually offering no hydration whatsoever.
I do have to admit that I really like the Chihuahua color (just like everyone else in the world it seems), but I'm not a huge fan of the metallic shades. Maybe I just need the right outfit to go with them, or maybe I just need to pass those to my 14 year old cousin who would appreciate them much more.
I would caution anyone trying these out to apply lip balm first, and do not expect these to dry and stick. They are also marketing as long-wearing, but that was definitely not the case. Again, these are oil-based, and pretty much anything your lips come into contact with will also be wearing the Melted lipstick.
Overall - not a formula I'm crazy about but not one I'd boycott wearing. 'Chihuahua' will definitely be added to my repertoire of lipsticks, and I will give the other shades another try. I just saw the new line of Too Faced Chocolate Bon Bons Melted lipsticks, and I'm positive a few of those will find a home with me as well.
