In this Stephen King story, which aired as television miniseries in three two-hour parts, Dr. Joyce Reardon (Nancy Travis) is a professor at the University of Washingtonn in Seattle who is determined to prove that supernatural occurrences are real. Using six specialists, each of whom possess a different form of psychic ability, the scientist leads her group into Rose Red, a haunted mansion that has grown in size since it was built in 1907. From there, the film because a wonderfully delirious ghost story, using the bizarre settings contained within the gigantic house to procure constant new surprises.

    An Rare And Excellent Find!!!

    This title never got the credit it deserved. Never even made it to Blu-Ray. I was glad I was able to find a brand new, unopened copy as this is a rare find. The movie itself, originally released as a TV mini-series is actually very engaging and is based on a (supposedly) true story. How much fiction has been added for dramatic effect remains to be seen but the overall viewing experience is quite enjoyable. The second disc contains extras including interview with the real Joyce Reardon (played by Nancy Travis in the movie) as well as others in the paranormal fields and an interview with Ellen Rimbauer's real life descendant Steven. If you would like to get an even deeper understanding of this movie and the events it is based on I recommend getting a copy of the book titled "The Diary Of ...

    nasty old food stuck to dvd...

    so first i wanna say that the dvd arrived early...YAY! right? kinda...i was super excited when I got my dvd in the mail.. i have been looking for this movie for ever!! rose red is one of my top faves.... However, i was quite unhappy when i opened the dvd case to see the dvd its self covered in nasty fingerprints on both sides, old nasty food stuck to it, and scratches on the dvd read side. very not impressed.

    The best Stephen King movie!

    Love Rose Red! Totally Stephen! Quite possibly the best movie from one of his stories! The bonus features are numerous and awesome! And of course, Stephen, like Alfred Hitchcock, likes to do a cameo in there somewhere. It's always fun to watch for him in his movies. My first Rose Red DVD was stolen nine years ago and I started looking for it again about two years ago. It was always sold out everywhere I looked. Now that I've finally found it again, I've only had it for a week and I've watched it twice already. It will be three times after I watch it again tomorrow! If you like Stephen King's stories and movies, you'll love Rose Red!

    The house that builds itself. . .

    As a huge fan of Stephen King, I had to see Rose Red and I loved it. I do not want to give too much away, but I will say that there are many stars in this mini-series that you will recognize. Furthermore, this story will keep you on the edge of your seat throughout. While the story does give some of the back-story of Ellen Rimbaure you will need to get a separate disc for her complete back-story, it's well worth it to buy both.

    Great movie!

    I had watched this when it first came out on TV as a miniseries. When I decided I wanted to watch this again, I was disappointed to learn that the DVD is no longer in print and had to search around where to purchase one. I was lucky to find a copy on eBay at a reasonable price and was able to watch this again. The movie was as interesting and enjoyable as when I first watched it.
