    Great product

    I actually purchased this unit as a replacement to the one I purchased almost 14 years ago. I own and operate a video service company and one of my services is to transfer all consumer video tapes to DVD. Since I've owned it I have burned over 3,500 DVDs. It's definitely a work horse. One of the great features of this machine is Flexible Recording where I can set the recording time. Most DVD burners did not have this feature. You were limited to 1, 2, 4, and 8 hour recording time so if I tape was 1 1/2 hours long, you had to record a 2 hour DVD or stand by and stop the recording which was not always possible for me. It was nice to set the exact recording time and walk away.

    Very Happy buyer

    Product does recording on DVD. When using the timer recording, the RAM capability allows you to edit out the commercials while you are watching that recording. Then when watching that recording in the future, there is no need to fast forward thru the commercials. But the machine also has a commercial skip feature if you do not feel the need to edit out commercials. You also have the option to completely delete the recording from the disc if wanted.

    great recorder

    I bought this panasonic dmr 55 as a backup to one i have had for a number of years that is still going strong.It is a durable recorder with a nice picture and plenty of imputs and outputs..I tried other recorders from e-bay but they were to complicated to operate

    Glad I was able to find it!

    My original Panasonic DVR-E55 recorder finally broke after about 20 years. I really wanted the same make and model because it was easy to use and had worked well for so long. Unfortunately, that particular model has been discontinued. Thankfully, I was able to buy this used one which is identical to my old one.
