The Springfields
Dusty Springfield was a high profile entertainer/singer in the 1960's. Her singing skills made the her one of England's finest exports. Prior to worldwide acclaim, she was searching for her own unique sound. The Springfields were part of her musical journey. The music contained on this set would be considered "standards" sung at coffee houses and college campuses. America's Kingston Trio and England's Seekers performed the same material. Dusty Springfield would also sang songs attempting to embrace the soulful mood of her singing idol Aretha Franklin. As the 1970's drew to a close, Miss Springfield pretty much disappeared from the music scene. In the 1980's British band The Pet Shop Boys asked if she would provide her talents to a song that would restart her professional career. This ...
