This covers many aspects of both the military actions of the Civil War and the political trends of the nation during the war years. Maybe a bit too much time is spent on some topics, but overall a good choice for one single book to cover the topic.

The only shortfall is detailed information of battle casualties for each individual clash between the Union and Rebel forces.
