Great little vintage camera. I wanted it to take pictures of my ceramic work so I keep it in my workshop all of the time. The print images are very good and I am happy about that. I had purchased a Figi instamatic camera to do that job and it was a complete failure. I hated it. Even though this Sony is older and takes 3.5 disks, it works great for me. I have a 3.5 disk card reader with a usb plug so I can use it on my updated computer without any problems. I am so glad I bought this camera. I was able to order an additional battery and charger (if I ever need a new one) off of Amazon so I am good to go for a long time. Very pleased with my purchase.

An only digital camera but works like mine did in 1999.... Solid and functional if you can still use and read floppies. Works great for my small inventory close-ups to my website....A Great vintage journey!

This camera is perfect for the average person who doesn't get caught up in the hype of bigger & better. Yet can still enjoy excellent quality and ease of use. It was made several years ago and still has quality and perserverance in this disposable society. My husband had bought one when they were first out. I found this to be a very easy simple way to take and send quality pictures by email or post for sharing with others. When technology advanced along I had the opportunity to own a newer bigger better camera - I could just not figure it out - it was complex and the pictures were not as clear. My husband still likes his and I wanted my own - So I came to ebay and was fortunate to find one in great condition at a fabulous price. I continue to take awesome pics to enjoy with family and to post for others. I love it and wouldn't trade it for another kind.Read full review
I bought one of these at retail in the 1990's for $800 plus dollars, so ~$10 these days is a great deal. Battery is the weak part, as due to age most will not recharge now. So obtaining a spare battery is required, but without fear it will burst in flames as in some newer products.

The Sony Mavica FD81 isn't going to win any megapixel contest but if you want a perfect camera for sending images electronically for your email or prints up to 4 X 6 there isn't anything better and as far as I know the Mavica cameras are the ONLY ones that can make a duplicate on the spot in ttarandpuka2he camera. You can take a picture of something and have it for sale on Ebay in three minutes with no wires or connections. The FD81 is very easy to usa and will focus down so close you can almost fill a frame with a key on your keyboard and you don't have to buy any expensive memory sticks.
