I wanted an ebook reader which: * is light to hold (not more than 200g) * has a clear display which you can light up and read even in the dark * has a sensitive touch screen which you only need to touch to turn the pages (better than swiping) * allows fast page turns * has a good battery life and a short charging time * has an SD card slot (for an expandable memory) * has a user-friendly software which gives someone like me who loves to read exactly what I need (such as remembering the page I have reached in a book, even in case I am reading more than one book during the same period, without the hassle of having to set and delete bookmarks, or presenting very convenient options as to how to sort books in the library or for choosing and setting fonts . . . all so easy) * allows fast transfer of ebooks from PC to internal or removable memory and quick assimilation of these in the reader library * has Wi-Fi capability * has a handsome design . . . Well, I found all this in the NOOK Simple Touch with Glowlight. Although there are some other good e-readers or tablets out there which may offer different features, better or worse in certain aspects, and I have tried some of them, I can say that at present only the NOOK Simple Touch with Glowlight rolls all the characteristics I was looking for into one e-reader, and if you are someone who just wants to read and read, and not do a multitude of other things which you can do on your PC or other gadgets, then these are the characteristics you should be looking for in an ebook reader, and this is the reader you should acquire.Read full review
I bought this Nook because it is a well recognised brand. It's main feature for me is that it allows me to borrow books from libraries, and there are lots of places where I can buy books, although I cannot buy books from Barnes and Noble because I don't have an American address for my visa card. This is my second Nook, my first one being a 1st edition, which I have passed on to my friend, who has in turn purchased a Nook. The reason I bought a new one was because I like reading in bed and the glowlight facility is just right for me. I did have a small problem adjusting to the smaller size and finding out how all the "controls" work, but it is really quite easy. It is especially easy to look up meaning of words. What don't I like: Barnes & Noble send me (via wifi) books I can buy through them very cheaply - only trouble is they won't sell to me because I don't have an American address. What do I like: Everything. Mainly that I can borrow books from libraries, and through the help of Calibre, can convert most formats to suit my ereader.Read full review
Fulfilled all my requirements, also not confined to the Kindle Store. Battery was charged when I first got it and I used it everyday for the first month, the only charge it has had is when I connected for a short time by USB and it is still showing 70%. The best software to use on a PC is "Calibre", it is freeware and links to the kindle perfectly, just identify the Nook as your preferred E reader when you install it. Device works well in the dark just as long as you dim the backlight to the low end of the scale. In bright daylight the device is perfectly readable also.
I can make review not for nook but Rooted nook. why? because i was frastrated after buying it. no image based pdf readable. Only you can read font based pdf. So, i decided to root it with nook manager. when im done, i installed some new pdf reader from diffrent company. ebookdroid, fbreader etc. Now i can say its a great reader i have ever seen. Freedom, stability, everything is there. Now its a part of my life. i forgot to leave my phone sometimes but not my nook. Thanks.

I needed it to get rid off my big paper book collection, which was taking a lot of space. It does what it has to - a lot of books in one small device. Eyes are not tiring. Also you can trick its software and even install GMail or some web browser.
