I bounced around looking for different Canon cameras, reading reviews, and looking for a great deal. I love this camera. It is superior in so many ways to my Canon T1i. However, there are two main differences to me. First, shutter speed. This is my first semiprofessional camera and the shutter speed blew me away. I shoot a lot of sports photography and knew I was missing that one shot in the middle that I was looking for very time I took a burst of images with my T1i. Now I don’t miss as many. Second is the shutter sound. My T1i is loud this 50D is much quieter, at least to me it is. Quiet day on the golf course and a loud clack of a shutter does not make golfers happy even after the ball is gone. I love this 50D and can’t wait to see what I can do with it. It will be a fun journey. I also want to mention the complaints about weight of the camera. It is heavier to me in my hand. However, to me, weight means a more solid camera. A better built camera with quality. Also, I started photography way back when I started with a Pentax K1000. The weight I felt always helped me steady the camera. This Canon 50D feels steady in my hand and feels like I can steady the image much easier. Read full review

It's similar of the 40D BUT totally different performance. except the 15mp resolution, the back screen resolution is incredible, the menus is deeper a bit of the 40D, it's a very very improved camera compared with my 40D, te 50D is a completely different beast, I not gained only 5mp of resolution with the DIGIC IV instead of DIGIC III in 40D, the pictures are very clean, but the camera 50D uses the same battery (BP511) and CF card, and other things the 40D uses. I LOVE THE 50D really!.

This is my first DSLR camera. I feel that it is an easy camera to use and adjust all the features that makes taking pictures a lot of fun. This is an older model as I believe the new one is canon eos 90D but it is also about a $1000 and I paid $150.00 for this camera and I absolutely love the quality of this camera for as old that it is. The condition of the camera is mint and the seller was fast in shipping and it is a quality product. I recommend this camera for the beginner as well as someone that is more advanced in skill set. Beyond that, I need to use this camera more and I would be able to give a better perspective about the Canon EOS 50D .

I bought a camera kit containing a Canon 50D camera body and 4 lenses, plus other items from CCR Camera. The camera and lenses are genuine Canon products and carry one-year warranties by Canon. Extended warranties are available at additional cost. One problems I had with the kit is that it contained too much stuff I didn't really need and which was of rather low quality or too small, such as tripods, a camera hard case, a card reader, etc., but which added to the cost of the kit. Another problem was that the Canon camera kits sold on e-Bay by this company did not give me the lens choices I really wanted. For instance, I would have preferred an 18-135 or 18-200 mm IS lens, instead of the 18-55 standard lens in the kit, but they were either not listed on e-Bay, or the difference in price between trading the standard 18-55 lens for the other lenses was too high for my budget, so I was forced to settle for the kit. In my opinion, the company ought to consider more of an a la carte approach to selling kits on e-bay. Then a customer could select a camera body (for instance a Canon 50D, or a Canon 7D body), and select the lenses he REALLY wanted (say an 18-200 mm lens together with a good wide-angle lens in the 10-55mm area (I don't know exactly what Canon has available). The extra stuff, like tripods, cases, converter lenses, etc. could possibly be provided as an optional kit. These are meant as constructive criticisms. I do think this is a great company to deal with, but even great companies sometimes overlook ways in which they could make their customers even happier...Read full review
I've owned a couple of the Canon 50D's. If you don't need video on your DSLR, the 50D is a great option. I make 8 X 10 prints all the time and love them. In my opinion - and I've owned both - the 50D is worth the extra money vs the 40D. Same size camera, but the Digic IV processor seems to help me take better photos than the 40D's Digic III. The 50D is especially good for newbies who may not need all the bells and whistles (and cost) of the 60D, 70D, or the new 80D. Though the shutter is designed for 100,000 clicks or accuations, I suggest buying one that has the lowest count possible - the one I bought on Ebay had just under 13,000. Anything less than 25,000 would likely be OK. The Canon 50D is one of the best values on Ebay!
