    The best compact camera ever!

    This is by far the best compact camera produced by any manufacturer for the past 10 years. The photos are crisp, colourful and clear. It even has a x16 optical zoom and 24mm wide angle lens. It takes great HD movies too. Good in low light conditions that the equivalent Panisonic could never cope with. I am on my third camera now. Not becasue they break but becasue my first one was stolen while my second got run over by my car (don't ask! When looking at new compact cameras in 2019 nothing comes close within the say specs. so I bought another 2nd hand one.

    why on earth they have squeezed 16 megapixels into same small sensor ???

    This is a good camera, - the biggest surprise is how Sony could have managed to squeeze into such relatively tiny body all the modern hi-tech features, toys and gadgets + a 16x zoom. The very signigicant "con" I must mention : noise reduction is TOO active and can well make your photos way too soft and having a "painted" look. Photograph at the lowest ISO possible and try to use camera outdoors preferably on sunny days only. This is how you'll be getting great pictures with Sony DSC-HX9V. (Though "Super intelligent mode" can indeed help you with making very passable pictures in twilight.) In one of the reviews (sorry, but the rules applicable here prevent me from mentioning the exact link) I've seen a collection of "sample images" ...

    Bought this to replace my water damage one just had to get the same model. This camera works perfectly and for less than £50 is a bargain. Old model but still difficult to beat overall. Stunning video and camera features. Thanks

    Amazing mid-range camera

    Really happy with this purchase. Works fast, takes great quality pictures, even in low-light. Delighted with the 16x zoom and Sony's steady-shot stabilization, which saves saves the situation of there's no tripod. Battery last from 60 to about a 100 minutes depending on how actively u are shooting. Many modes to choose from, most of which are suitable even for complete novices. GPS usually takes about 3-5 minutes to find the position. The only disadvantage would probably be the lack of aperture and shutter priority modes, but I wouldn't expect such things from a camera that is far from being a flagship one. Overall: great value for money, definitely recommend.
