Product arrived in a few days after placing order, and was as described ( and yes, it was in the original sealed packaging). This unit replaces a DVD-SR200P that finally gave up the ghost after working well for over five years. This "new" replacement unit worked flawlessly right out of the box. Have used it for over a month almost every day without any problems. Decent quality image from a simple, inexpensive player. Note: this unit does not play Blu-Ray discs ( was designed before the introduction of BR). Even so, a great value considering most titles are available on DVD still. For those of us whose low-res TV's are still humming away, a standard DVD player like this helps keep the cost of entertainment devices down. When this unit dies I'll update my TV and get a Blu Ray player.

The unit was cosmetically in really good condition. It plays well but has a problem with the disc drawer not opening. I needed to coax it open with a small screwdriver and needed to do this every time I used the machine.

I purchased this item to replace a DVP-NS575P. The DVP-SR200P has nearly the exact same inputs (it only lacks an S-Video input), which was very important to me as I have an older TV with composite RCA inputs, but I have a Sony A/V receiver (STR-DG510) that will take digital coaxial RCA input for sound. I was able to quickly reconnect everything according to my previous setup. This DVD player seems to be one of the last Sony models with this combination of outputs, however. The DVP-SR200P is more compact than the DVP-NS575P. It supports all the same disc formats (especially some more obscure ones), but it does not feature a virtual surround sound module. I am also not certain if the remote control is compatible with the remote for my receiver the way the DVP-NS575P remote was. I purchased this DVD player refurbished; it might be a model that's becoming obsolete (as more users move to HD televisons and HDMI connections). It suits my needs for now.Read full review
I needed to replace a vcr/dvd combo which no longer worked. I Decided to get each component separately. I chose this model for my dvd portion and ! was and still am very pleased with it. It doesn't take up much space. It is so simple to hook up and use even though it has a load of features, which of course is a bonus. There is no downside to owning this player.

I have hundreds of DVD's here in my art studio and have purchased many players but so far this one is the best 'user friendly' player I have had out of all of them! I actually was using one just like this one for about 8 years until the door got stuck and refused to play anymore. I was about to plug in another type I have here ( I have a few back up players here, ''just in case" , of other brands) to keep seeing my movies but decided to buy this same one AGAIN so all I would have to do is use same plugs from other one into the cable box and just pop this in it's place. ...Works like a dream and I think everyone who is looking to have a simple little player, no nonsense, small and perfect, GET THIS ONE!

We use this same model in our church video system. I bought this one for a backup. This model in no longer being manufactured. It was replaced with DVP-SR210P model that eliminated the LED display on the front.

Simple, slim in design and light in weight, it is definitely worth for its price. The progressive scan video output and its 12bit 108MHZ video D/A converter, as well as its compatibility with multiple recorded DVD disks, makes it very practical. Specially for those budget mind buyers desiring to replace all those old vhr players in their home, connected to small to medium TV sets which in terms of their sizes and standard characteristics make HD Blue Ray expensive players useless. Its price and good quality, makes also the Sony DVP-SR200P a smart option as a practical and usable gift. Its operation is simple, and I could set it up very fast and easily to a small Sony TV I have in my studio. With this TV set, the DVD remote control also works great for both, the TV and the DVD player, and completely eliminates the need of two remote controls. It also adds the possibility of parental control. The only drawback, if any, is that you have to open and close the deck manually from the DVD player itself for loading or unloading a disc, since the remote control does not provide this option. In summary, the Sony DVP-SR200P is an excellent option and the price I paid for it at EBAY (around $30.00), makes it a very good investment for my money in my terms.Read full review
Needed an affordable but reliable DVD player so I looked for a Sony product because I have always had an excellent experience with them. The player is certainly not top of the line with all the bells and whistles but it is not shabby either. There are enough functions on it to keep me happy. The picture and sound are very good while the unit is surprisingly compact, light and streamlined. If there is a drawback I would have to say it is limited to one disc at a time. Once again another quality experience with a Sony product. Would recommend this to anyone who is looking for a reliable quality DVD player.
I had the same Sony DVD/CD before and it lasted years. When it broke, I made the decision to replace it with the exact brand and model. Excellent product!

I've owned a lot of Sony products through the years - this one replaced a 5 disk DVD unit I have had for a few years (also a Sony). The old one was having trouble locating DVD menus on disks so it been moved to the poolhouse for an outdoor cd player. Anyway going from 5 to 1 has been easy - the product footprint is much smaller allowing for gaming systems to take their rightful place. My integrated Sony Touch Screen remote works fine without any special reprogramming or code searching (good because it confuses me to do that). Picture is fine - freeze/pause very clear - fast indexing on multi volume/chapter DVDs. I miss having an optic output for the surround sound amp but made it up with regular RCA patch cords. But after all it was and $35 player and works great. New remote included (also Sony) but I did not use as I already had a system commander remote I really like and have memorized. Good value - high quality. Nothing too techy - but worth every penny.Read full review
