Another masterpiece by the engineer of Dark Side of the Moon
Alan Parsons, best known in the early 70s for engineering Pink Floyd’s Dark Side of the Moon, is also a master musician. This album features beautifully melodic pieces, strong lyrical content and breathtaking symphonic arrangements, making for a truly enjoyable listening experience from beginning to end. As with all of Parsons’ albums, the featured vocalists are absolutely amazing! The subject of "Turn Of A Friendly Card" is basically about gambling and more specifically it seems like it is talking about Las Vegas. I've always love the line "There's a sign in the desert that lies to the west, where you can't tell the night from the sunrise". If you have been on the casino floor, you know that there are no windows or clocks to orient you what part of the day it is. The day blends into evening and into the morning. The album was the first of Parson's disc to go multi-platinum and produces several huge hits including "Time" (sung by Eric Wolfson) and "Games People Play". The finale of the album is the 5 part "Turn Of A Friendly Card" suite that pretty much sums up the gambling lifestyle. It is not surprising how well this album fared as I remember a story that Alan ...
