physically and electrically compatible with the Microsoft Trackball Explorer 1.0 model X05-97473
I need a 3rd trackball that is button location compatible with the M$ explorer trackball version 1 (MET-1). I have two MET-1'sl on my desk that are much earlier (model X05-87473 {usb/PS2}). Every other trackball I have tried has the right click button on the far side, away from the left click button. The MET-1 has the right click button just above the left, and both are thumb activated. This trackball is newer and in better shape than my older pair that I have been using for decades and more important, it is tactility identical to my other pair. Background situation: 1) corner desk, both wings are 5 ft long. 2) three 14" back-lit gaming keyboards (standard keyboards are to big to fit) 3) 4@ 24" 1080p monitors with a 40" 1080p monitor above them 4) the 40" is on a 4 port HDMI KVM ... Trackball consistency is critical. It is too easy to get confused.

Thai is the wrong model of the Microsoft Trackball Mouse v1.0! The handling of the ball with the thumb is inaccurate and painful on the thumb after a long session of grsohics designs. The preferred model is the one with handling of the ball with the major finger (see picture); it is very accurate and the hadnling of ther buttons with the thumb is OK, and can be changed by system software, both in Windows and Linux!
