About this product

Product Information

The city of Los Angeles has a few more problems than usual in 2100 A.D. The future hasn't exactly been kind to urban life and now gangs have overrun the already bleak neighborhoods. Players take command of a giant mechanized walker with the ability to transform into a sleek hovercraft. Battle across 12 war-torn levels, each culminating in a showdown with a large boss character. Fourteen advanced weapons are available so you can teach enemies that "crime doesn't pay." Clean up the streets alone or team up with a friend via cooperative play.

An additional game mode, Precinct Assault, has also been included. Precinct Assault is a strategy game that involves two teams (red versus blue) in an all-out battle for supremacy. This mode can be played against the computer or another human. Future Cop: L.A.P.D. supports the Dual Shock Analog Controller to make you feel the gunfire, and progress can be saved using either one block of memory card space or a password. Special features include real-time light sourcing, full-motion video clips, and radio chatter from your female dispatcher. The game was originally called "Future Strike," as it was conceived as a sequel to 1997's Nuclear Strike.

Waited 10 years to play this!

Many years ago Future Cop LAPD was on a demo disk that was available for Macs: I never got to play the full version of the game until recently, and I'm overjoyed to say that it was well worth the wait. It's a shame this game doesn't have as big of a following as other games, because it's a hidden gem in the Playstation's veritable catalog. You blast your way through missions in a police mecha with an arsenal of weapons that are unlocked as you progress from mission to mission, taking down the out of control criminals in a crime-ridden LA in the future. My only lamentation is the camera angles leave much to be desired, the closest camera still feels like an aerial shot and there's no checkpoints in the mission so if you die you start over from the beginning. The missions aren't too ...

  • Future Cop

This game is so much fun! Comparing to games now it may not look like much but back during the PS1 era this game was amazing! The Campaign was pretty good and interesting in seeing what the future would look like if crime were to rise to a great extend and the drastic measure the LAPD could do then... But what really caught my interest was the Precinct Assault mode that the game had. Basically, you were a skilled LAPD officer who was chosen to operate a special mech walker that could obliterate practically anything in its path... and I do mean OBLITERATE! The walker was also able to transform into a hover car if needed to travel faster which was fun. It was really fun with 2-player co-op mode, you got two walkers playing through campaign doing double the carnage with the same ...

  • Good purchase

I'm a big fan of the Strike series. I discovered this was supposed to follow up Nuclear Strike, but then it turned into future cop. I decided to try it out and it's actually a lot of fun. The graphics are nice, and the controls are better than I thought. I would recommend this one.

  • Good times with the Future Cop

Me and my bro used to play this game all the time. It has a co-op mode for both story and arena. (Something most Ps1 games don't usually contain). Not only is it super fun but it also is super fun with a friend and I totally recommend it to anyone looking for a chance to be a cop in the big mech.
