About this product

Product Information

For years, enthusiasts of aerial warfare gaming have turned to the Ace Combat series of games. If you have ever found yourself craving the glory of flying, then the Ace Combat franchise offers excellent sky-based fighting action. Whether you're a long-time fan or a new player, you'll enjoy the introduction of the sixth game in the series for PlayStation 2 known as "Ace Combat Zero: The Belkan War."Like its predecessors, "Ace Combat Zero" enhances the crux aircraft experience without demanding a massive fluctuation in design. Would-be aviators need to master an array of combat maneuvers in order to withstand any confrontation from the very first mission to the exciting conclusion. If you cannot roll, bank, and tear your way through a flock of missiles, you are as good as done. Mastering the art of effective dogfighting, regardless of weather conditions and enemy numbers, will decide whether you fly home or end up in the smoldering depths of a crater. Virtual sky navigators simply would not have it any other way. Your view is limited to what you can see from the cockpit, which further enhances the reality of aerial dogfighting.Becoming proficient in the sky is only half the battle; "Ace Combat Zero" also requires you and your squadron to deal with a collection of ground forces. Depending on the mission and landscape, you will need to maneuver through waves of anti-aircraft bombardment and ground-to-air missiles. Particular weapons, such as laser towers, enhance the science-fiction feel of this game. Victory hinges on your abilities as a competent multitasker to keep your planes safe.Aside from wicked-cool combat, it is the story that helps the Ace Combat franchise of console flight games stand out. "Ace Combat Zero" is no exception. You and your squadron take to the skies for a purpose, and the big-picture ramifications of your mission are explained in advance. This way, it actually feels like your achievements matter in the game world. There is an authentic sense of momentum and urgency as you and your comrades fight to emancipate nations and help to stop a global threat. The narrative and gameplay work together to propel players into a compelling tale of modern warfare. In addition to rival aces and multiplayer modes, not to mention vast improvements to artificial intelligence across the spectrum, game designer Namco has also added variety to the missions you will fly. You may find yourself blasting down ground targets to defend airborne troops in one mission, and then you might be weaving through laser fire in another trying to wipe out a communications array. Players can unlock medals based on particular accomplishments that they achieve. "Ace Combat Zero: The Belkan War" is the sixth game in a well-respected franchise that has constantly achieved a winning blend of flight simulation detail and sci-fi storytelling. Thanks to all of these factors, "The Belkan War" is an intense addition to the franchise with adrenaline-pumping action that gamers are sure to love. This title had an original release date for the PS2 in 2006.

    Love the ace combat series.

One that's good for you collectors. New planes, compelling story. Makes you feel like a god. Like you can take a plane and defend the entire universe. One problem though. It's short as hell. Seriously probably the shortest game in the series. So depressing. 18 missions with a bonus where you dog fight with Mobius one. 6 hours and it was over. Ace combat five was near double that.

  • a great game

Ace Combat Zero is a prequel to the Ace Combat series, You get fully up to date graphics and gameplay, while finding out what happened to set up the wars in the Ace Combat series. There are fewer yes-no types of questions than in previous games, and less character development, but the mission tree is much more nicely done - you often get to choose from "land missions" or "air missions" depending on your personal preferences. Also, your aircraft can now be configured to have the missile types that you enjoy using the most. The cut-scenes have been improved with a more realistic look to them, but in game graphics are about the same as Ace Combat 5. That's not to say they are bad - you get high quality views of the planes you're in, the landscapes you fly over and detailed towns beneath you. ...

  • A good addition to the Project Aces story line

Ace Combat Zero is a good addition to the Ace Combat series, with the depth and realism that you would expect from Namco. The game has 18 Levels and dozens of planes. It combines the replay value of AC05 with the fun of AC04. It allows you to select different special weapons for your aircraft, as you could in Ace Combat 4. It also The story, however, does not stand on it's own very well. This is expected from a game in a series. The game is more of a prologue to Ace Combat 5, explaining the mysterious Belkan War, and giving Ace Combat more background, as well as expanding on the levels in AC05. The game is not nearly as realistic as Ace Combat 5, because of the "special" planes unlocked at the end of the game, as well as the super weapons that the player must destroy. However, this does ...

  • ace combat zero: belkan war

ace combat is pretty much the best game in airplane sims. what i like about this game is the variety of airplanes you can use. however, this prequel to ace combat 5 was a bit of a disappointment. the mission gameplay repeats all over. the graphics are the best as always and it shows in the cinematic dog fights. there's a new twist to the game which shows you your fighting style as an ace which are mercenary, soldier and knight ace. each style generates different message transmissions during the game. enemy ace squadrons also appear for you to fight. each squadron has their own strategies and each ace style has its own set of aces for you to encounter. overall, it's a good game to play. if your new to the ace combat series, this game wont disappoint you.

  • Another Ace Combat Victory

Here is another title for the Ace Combat fan and it does not disappoint...Well not much anyway. I find gameplay to be fast and exciting albeit missions seem very similar to previous Ace Combat releases. The hangar screen allows you to purchase planes of varying capabilities as well as additional ordinance for each aircraft. I like that you can do this. Your wing control is iffy and his abilities seem sub-par. The story is often long winded when all you want to do is get to the game. I enjoy the feeling of flight and combat. The graphics are very good for the aircraft but extremely lacking as usual for scenery. All in all a good game but by no means a legend.
