Nice drive for a good price
Refurbed WD 2tb drive looked brand new when I got it. Came with a power cable and a 3 foot usb3 cable. Plugged it into my Windows machine and it was ready to go. When sitting right next to it I can hear it spin up on occasion but it's not loud at all in my opinion, I'm impressed with how quiet it is. I also like that it stands up instead of laying flat, fits on my desk and behind my tv better. It was formatted to NTFS on arrival which was fine with me. I'm using it for movie and photo storage and backup. I've added about 75 gig so far without any issue and the usb3 connection is fast. A gig is transferred from my computer to the drive in less than a minute. For those who are looking for a media drive for their tv or roku...with a few movies in meg4 format on the drive I tried it on my Roku ... Refurbed WD 2tb drive looked brand new when I got it. This is a very affordable and capable drive made better by Western Digital's (WD) decision to dial-back the previously aggressive software that installed using two (2) lettered drives rather than one. We like the form factor, 2-TB size, and ease of use which has led us to standardize on this drive with clients for backup to disk. So we've acquired over a dozen of them and have had a couple fail in warranty, but WD replaced them with few problems. BACKUP HINTS: We always try to implement backup with multiple drives to accommodate inevitable failures and we've found the free 'Cobian' backup to be a great tool to make it all work. We typically direct daily backups to 2 or 3 alternating drives and let Cobian advise us of success or failure in a daily E-mail. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . ... Good product. I have a dual drive RAID WD My Book Mirror that I recommend for storing backups. This is great to have too, however, especially when used with a cloud storage service for duplication. Backing up the laptop is really simple using this device...

Great solution for old files that you don't want to delete, but don't want to keep on your local machine
Works every bit as well as the brand new version. It's a nice backup solution for those old files like old pictures and videos, etc. that you don't really want on your local machine but would like to have access to from time to time. This is my second My Book, I have a 750gb model that is now about 8 years old!

A one time fee for an eternal cloud of my own!
I purchased this product for the storage size so I could back up all of my photos, documents etc. It was very easy to hook up and start using. It beats the price of Cloud storage by a long shot and the reviews I read were the biggest positive that led me to purchase it. Once you have your files backed up you can simply disconnect from you pc and shut it down until you are ready to do more backups. It runs very cool as I was able to download over 300GB over a period of 4 days from a paid for Cloud backup and it never got hot. The fee based Cloud storage will be terminated now that I have the equivalent of my own cloud. For the price a person could order a 3 or 4TB model and do a duplicate hard drive copy to use and restore a pc in case of hard drive failure. All your files and programs will ...
