About this product

Product Information

The third and final installment of Gust's crafting-heavy Arland trilogy, Atelier Meruru: The Apprentice of Arland follows the story of Princess Meruru, who decides to become an alchemist after witnessing the work of Totori Helmold, the heroine from Atelier Totori. This new focus in life takes Meruru outside of her castle walls to meet new friends, overcome obstacles, go on adventures, and solve mysteries. Battles are once again party-based and take place from a third-person perspective, with each character offering special moves, support attacks, and assists.

Cel-shaded visuals, turn-based battling, and item synthesis remain core components of the gameplay in Atelier Meruru, but the ultimate goal of the game is to help the land of Arls develop and advance to become part of the larger world of Arland. Players have a number of different options when developing Arls, but doing so is a fairly straightforward process. Gamers get requests from citizens and then synthesize the needed items, in turn earning development points that can be used to construct new facilities, raise the kingdom rank, increase the population, and unlock new locations.

  • Meruru continues the franchise standard of improvement with each entry.

Another great entry in the classic series does not disappoint fans with a truly classic JRPG experience. Classic turn-based battles are thankfully intact while you take the role of Meruru, apprentice to Totori and a princess in need of a positive reputation. She will use alchemy to expand her kingdom, prove to the King her career choice is worthy, and win the hearts of the people. The light-hearted story and strong-willed characters delight as the days pass, but you have to manage your time well so you don't fail in your task. The gameplay is fun and varied with a pleasing visual presentation and an upbeat soundtrack which include the much-coveted option of Japanese voices. If you're into Atelier there is no reason you shouldn't have this game in your collection.

  • Good Story

Another good game in the Atelier stories.
