Simply works
I researched several types of these Bluetooth kits, most more expensive that the SoundBot, but I decided to take a chance on it and I am very happy with it. Connecting with my Android phone was quick and easy and it reconnects very quickly almost every time I plug it in (which I have to do each time I want to use it because my vehicle's lighter outlet is always powered on). Every so often my phone fails to connect with it, but I blame the phone and have to go into the Bluetooth setting to connect it. It will turn itself off while plugged in after a period of inactivity, but I haven't allowed it to go plugged in for long to see if it depletes my battery. The sound gain from my phone is excellent, much better than if I was using a cord between the headphone jack and the auxiliary jack on my ... This product is a contradiction: The idea, BT attachment, Usability - ALL FANTASTIC. Here's the problem: The FM transmitter is decent, but crackles on all frequencies at longer distance. On a car, the antenna is, by default, located closer to the driver/dashboard, physically. On an SUV with a rear mounted/roof antenna (typical of current, mid-2000's+) the antenna to receive the signal is too far from the puck. To this it is not a fault of the device, just a fact of physics so you can't blame the product. The device was retested inside a home with a portable FM stereo [read: old boombox] on a more line-of-sight. [Read: You don't want a metal roof in between the puck and the antenna.] What *is* a fault of the product is the incredibly bad sound quality 'interpretation' of the attached ... This product is a contradiction: The idea, BT attachment, Usability - ALL FANTASTIC. Here's the problem: The FM transmitter is decent, but crackles on all frequencies at longer distance. Once a solid FM connection was made - High frequencies? barely passable. Midrange? Decent. Bass? HORRIBLY distorted to a high level. So, what's one to do? Teardown! In short - The device was torndown to the circuit board and audio signal intercepted before the FM transmitter. The bass coming out of the audio circuit clipped the meter. Recommendation: Don't buy.

No memory for preset station when powered off/on.
This is a very good product and does what it needs to do, and you can't beat the price. It powers on and off with my car which is really nice, and it automatically connects to my phone so I don't have to do it every time. There are 10 preset stations on the device, and of course the station that works best in the area I live is the 10th and final station which is 107.3. The problem is when i turn my car off and back on, the device automatically reverts back to the 1st preset and I have to scroll through all 10 presets again to get to where I need it to be. It's not a huge deal, but would be nice if it turned back on to the preset station that it was left on. I was surprised how well this thing works.
I was totally surprised by the quality and functionality of this unit. The only reason for giving it 4 stars is that my kid says it sounds like you are far away from the mike when you are making a call. But I could hear her just fine and playing music off my smartphone was perfect. If you have a car stereo in your car that has an aux port on the front and you need to make calls or listen to music via bluetooth, this puppy was made for you. This is a GREAT product. really easy to use with large buttons that you can push without looking while driving. love the a2dp integration so you can just stream music from your phone to your stereo.
