Very accurate rendition
Champion Oils was part of Sterling Fuels, a London Ontario based Company, one of several owned by Joe McManus. McManus owned several of these tanks cars and hauled fuel on the L&PS, an electric line that ran from Port Stanley on Lake Erie, to London Ontario by way of St. Thomas Ontario. The cars hauled fuels from Port Stanley on the lake, where it arrived by way of Lake tankers, up to their fuel depot in London. From there it would be distributed by truck to the company heating fuel outlets and gas stations.(The L&PS Still exists to-day, however the London St. Thomas segment is now owned by CN while the St. Thomas - Post Stanley segment is a privately owned tourist railroad.) One of these cars still exists and is on display in St. Thomas . This model accurately reflects the cars of ...
