I purchased this game for my six year old who has the movie "monster house" he really enjoys the game and i recieved it at a great price. The only thing is the company/ person that had the game put a sticky label over the game so when i took that off there was a sticky residue on the cartridge. I was able to very carfully remove the residue with a small bit of water as i did not want to ruin the game. Otherwise very cheap, and son doesn't even know it came from e-bay!
First of all, I expected Monster House Gameboy Advance game to be in 3D platform. (like Super Mario bros or any other game where you control the player in a side view.) But this game is viewed from the top looking down at the players' heads (almost) going through the house like a map. I hated it. It reminds me of Zelda (of the old classic game) where you view a room at a time and try to remember where you are at when you leave the room and explore as you go. If you do not have a sense of direction, this isn't for you. I prefer the ones like Super Mario Bros. or Kirby, where you either go left or right and the game scrolls as you go, you view everything from the side. This is NOT a scrolling game. (if I'm explaining it correctly) I gave it a fair try. I went into the house and explored around the room, I'm supposed to find objects around the house. I gave it 2 stars for the game overall due to the graphics and colors, they were pretty good. But I got lost easily and got tired of exploring the room after 2 rooms. This is like a mystery game where you need to find objects around the room and there is plenty of talking between the kids in between. My 2 nephews, 7 & 8 years old tried out this game and they gave up within 20 minutes. Said they didn't care for it. This is merely my opinion. I loved Super Mario Bros., Kirby, Yoshi's Island and it's similar games. This isn't like them at all. This game is great for those who like mysteries, exploring, top-viewing of the game, and maps.Read full review
This game was pretty neat. The characters walk around inside the monster house trying to locate items and avoid bats, chairs that come to life, nasty bugs, etc. They are each armed with a squirt gun to help ward off the enemies. They can find refill water drops hidden in plants and vases. The one big issue I had with this game is that there are only a few "save" rooms available. So I found myself repeating and re-solving the same puzzles (ie, moving objects to get through certain areas) and dousing the attacking chairs over and over again. Too bad you can't press the start button to save and continue like you can on other games. This one feature (or lack thereof) really frustrated my son... Not worth 30 bucks new-I wouldn't pay more than 12.00 for it if you are really interested in buying it.Read full review
