a useful tool
I record a lot of live performances in our studio. There are so many methods of mic'ing performers, it's almost mind boggling. I've found this little unit to be very helpful. One of the categories asked if it was enjoyable. I'm not sure that's even applicable here, but I marked "no" based on the fact that extra work is seldom "enjoyable".

Its "Lightweight". They are not kidding....
This is extremely thin metal that doesn't take much to bend. If you put it on a boom, the weight of two quality microphones are too much for it. While its not expensive, it wasn't a good value for my purposes.

Good for Corded Mics; Tight Fit for Cordless
I would normally give this bar five stars, if I only had corded microphones. The quality is good, it's rugged, and it holds your corded microphones well (don't forget to really tighten up the fittings!) My ONLY gripe is that the cordless microphones are thicker and larger in size. I really wish this bar were two or three inches wider; then it would be great for both corded and cordless. As it is, the cordless microphones are really close together, and the windscreens almost touch (I'm guessing this windscreen situation happens with the corded mics as well.) Four stars -- waiting for the rollout of the new, improved, WIDER Mic Bar! (Call it the MY600!)I would normally give this bar five stars, if I only had corded microphones. Good Value and versitile.
This bar will work well for XY or A/B Stereo miking if the microphones are not too long. With microphones the length of a Neumann KM 184 an ORTF array is possible but longer microphones such as the Shure SM81 will have bad vertical placement due to interference of the XLR connectors and microphone bodies. This will work well for multiple microphone placement for interviews or speaking.
