Out of all of the cameras I have ever owned, this is probably one of the best. It has loads of great features including a dozen different settings for a great picture. Includes 5x optical zoom for getting close to an object still with a good quality image. The LCD screen is nice and bright even in the bright sunlight. Takes only 2x AA batteries which last for several hours (as long as you are using rechargeable batteries). The HD Video is fantastic, comes out nice, bright and clear, as well as good sound. Although the camera is nice well, built and stable; Unfortunately, this camera happens to be in the bulky camera family. It does not have a good grip or place to hold without accidentally pressing buttons. The cameras picture quality if very good, but is probably no different than a standard 5 megapixel EasyShare camera. The 12 megapixels are only good if you are going to use them for very large prints. This is also not a great camera for closeup macro photos. It will usually start going blurry, or refuse to auto-focus when the object is within about 10 inches......... With all of that said, if you are the type for taking good outdoor landscape photos, or perhaps portrait photos, I would definitely recommend this camera. Hope this review helps;....Harry.Read full review
The camera takes a very crisp, clear picture. For an advanced ametuer, it is an excellent camera. I wouldn't recommend a point and shoot camera of this calliber to a professional, nor to a complete novice. It has too many features for the novice to get hte best pic out of it, and professionals know why point and shoots aren't the best. I put this camera ot the test as soon as I got it, and the pictures came out wonderfully. It caught fast motion well, it takes great pic in low light settings, even in candlelit dark, the pics are good. the memory needed for the pics is amazing to me, no one should ever need more than a 2gb SD card. My only issue with the camera is hte video feature. The videos were very choppy and a lot of good video was missed by the camera. The playback on my computer was like watching a quality YouTube video on a Pentium III. Unfortunately, it was the playback that was choppy, but the video the camera itself caught. I checked with a high quality SD card, and it still was poor. My lesson, always use a camcorder. All in all, this camera is well worth the money. Also, I love buying referbished electronics. The quality of the items are just as good as new, and the prices are so much lower. I may always be one step behind on the technology because I buy so many items refurbished, but I am also not a wealthy person that can afford the latest and greatest thing.Read full review
Well, I was in the market for a digital camera and after pricing several at Wal-Mart, I stumbled on this camera and snagged it as the price was very reasonable for a 12 MP camera. The camera takes excellent HD photos and the menus are easy to navigate. I took a picture with some moving vehicles and the camera did an excellent job capturing the cars with no high-speed blur evident. That is good for people wanting to take the camera on a cross-country trip as the camera will not have any difficulties with the vehicle being in motion. The digital zoom was also better than I expected, having used that mode at maximum zoom on the moon. There was some washing out due to the flash, however, I suspect that without the flash, the extreme closeup of the moon would have turned out nice. The camera's internal memory is sufficient to hold about 50 pictures in 12 MP mode, and, of course, a lot more as you select lower MP. I was very happy to see that a 2 GB SD card could hold 540 pictures in 12 MP and over 3,000 in 1.2 MP mode. I would recommend the higher MP modes, though. Anything above 6 MP will give high quality shots. The video mode works well once you have a SD/HC card in there. I now use a 4 GB card and that provides upwards of 30 minutes of video assuming that the card is empty. Storm chasers will love the camera, especially the ability of the camera to use a very high shutter speed to capture lightning and a slower speed to hopefully capture a series of lightning strikes. A few cons are need to be mentioned, though. Make sure that you get high capacity batteries for use with this camera. Standard alkaline batteries are not able to power the camera very long. You may get as few as three shots before the camera goes down, depending on the alkaline battery initial strength. One major con discovered is that the camera has difficulty with night shots using the flash. Pictures are not well exposed with the flash, and if the object is producing it's own light, the camera will wash out the object, resulting in a poor picture. If you're moving, don't bother trying to get a shot with or without the flash. With the flash, it's grainy and without the flash, the camera increases the exposure time, resulting in severe blur. The camera does tell you that it's best to steady itself for a night shot, and that's good advice. The users manual is lacking in detail and even recommends that users visit the Kodak website to get a more detailed manual. Kodak seemed to be more interested in providing basic information in English, Spanish, Portugese(Brazilian), and French instead of giving users a more in depth version of a manual. Also, in USB mode, you can't take pictures with it and the camera does not tell you if it's still on battery power or drawing current from the computer. It might have been better for the firmware to tell you if it was on internal power or not. A final minor issue is that whenever the batteries are replaced, the unit goes back to factory defaults and any special settings you may have set disappear.Read full review
Can't take closeups. Autofocus is always blurry on closeups and it's very frustrating. I have to put it on manual focus and still can't get within 6-8 inches. I Try zooming in and out and lots of fiddling around to finally get it. Real disapointing for closeups but takes other pictures great. The battery situation is also frustrating. I put fully charged 3000mAh batteries in it and after about 10 minutes it tells me the batteries are low then shuts off for low battery. These batteries work fine in all my other devices. So I have 8 rechargeables on hand and swap them in when the others go dead. I need to get the AC adapter so I can keep shooting uninterrupted by constant battery changes. Great camera just can't do closeups and eats batteries. Got it used for 50 bucks so what can I say.
for a kodak camera, this is very good. easy to use features are good but limited. the quality of the pictures can range from good to excellent depending on how well you stabilize the camera and how and when you snap the picture. lighting and color also varies based on camera auto focus and its supposed stabilization feature. overall, not disappointed with the camera at all, but it could have been a little better; but hey, for the price and what it offers, it's well worth it.
im not 100% satisfied with the zoom...i know others that have less zoom that can get closer.other than that i looked at wal-mart, best buy, circut city...even target....e-bay had almost 50% savings ove the closest price...that was my determining factor! it is also very easy to use. carry extra batteries though because they dont seem to last long enough. but due to cost i am more than pleased with overall performance!...with an 8g memory card i took dozzens of pics and almost an hour of quality video footage at a recent concert...due to lack of true zoom i cant rate it a excellent...but damn close! i have recomended this to my freinds and family...with e=bays cost its a value not to pass up
I use mainly the camera, but the video is simple and crystal clear as well. The pros- super sharp pictures, price. The cons- sometimes a long time processing, telling me to please wait, between snaps, Closeup pictures are the same as all the kodaks, nonexistant. If you want super closeups for ebay sales, forget it. 6 inches is as close as you can get. Also no viewfinder so in bright sun you can't tell what you are shooting. Summary- Great camera to just leave on AUTO and let it do it's thing. All the Settings like beach, fireworks, sports, don't work any better than just auto, and the manual settings are a hassle unless you really like photography, which this camera isn't for anyway. It's a point and shoot. Kodak should fix the time between shots, and put an extreme closeup dial, and get rid of the extraneous manual settings, and it would be excellent. Don't try to be a little of everything kodak, do one thing super good, take automatic fast crystal clear pictures. You almost have it.Read full review
I like the compact size, and the larger viewing screen. It takes great high definition photos, and is easy to use. The only downside is it isn,t as good as I would like for close-ups, needed to do eBay listings. This my be just my fault, as I am no expert with this camera. The videos have come out nice, but I havent figured out how to get the sound on, guess I messed it up somehow. It takes nice portrait photos , and I've got some great shots of my grandkids. I used it at a family reunion yesterday, and when everyone grouped up I had no trouble getting everyone included, while the others had to keep backing up and telling everyone to get closer together. They all wanted to know what kind of camera I was using, and begged for copies of some of the good shots I was able to get.
