While Sonic may have defeated Robotnik's Death Egg in Sonic the Hedgehog 3, good villains never die (at least not in video games), they only get nastier. Now Sonic must ensure the bald one doesn't cause any more trouble on Floating Island. He'll also have to deal with the island's guardian, Knuckles, since the echidna doesn't especially like Sonic poking his blue face around where he doesn't belong. <br><br>Thus begins the adventure of Sonic & Knuckles, where you'll be able to play as either animal through eight zones: Mushroom Hill, Flying Battery, Sandopolis, Lava Reef, Hidden Palace, Sky Sanctuary, Death Egg, and a special Doomsday Zone. While Sonic's moves have remained the same as others in the series, Knuckles can fly and climb walls. He also has his own storyline as you play.<br><br>The biggest feature of Sonic & Knuckles is a special slot at the top, referred to as Lock-On technology, where you can plug in either Sonic the Hedgehog 3 or Sonic the Hedgehog 2 (other cartridges are not supported). Adding Sonic the Hedgehog 3 to the top of the cartridge makes Floating Island a 34-Meg adventure complete with new areas and secrets to find.<br><br>Sonic the Hedgehog 2 will let you to play as Knuckles, although the rest of the game remains the same. Linking up Sonic the Hedgehog 3 also brings up a Data Select screen, which will save your progress, cleared zones (which can be replayed), the number of Chaos Emeralds you've found, and gives you the opportunity to play as Sonic, Knuckles, Tails, or both Sonic and Tails. Find all of the emeralds to become Hyper Sonic or Super Knuckles!

    Sonic the Hedgehog 3 Part 2

    This game is a classic sonic title that had one of the most interesting cartridge designs ever where you can "lock on" other sonic cartridges to access various games. Attaching sonic 3 allows you to play sonic 3 and knuckles, the full third adventure; attaching sonic 2 allows you to play it with knuckles; attaching sonic 1 allows you to play blue spheres, the sonic 3 special stage with additional puzzles; and anything else offered a single blue spheres puzzle. As for the game itself,both the sonic and knuckles storylines offer fun and detailed stage designs, fast gameplay, rewarding bonus stages, and challenging special stages. The only minor downside is it is single player with no option mode like sonic 2, but options can be unlocked with a cheat code and 2 player mode can be unlocked ...

    Great Expansion for Sonic 2 and 3

    Not only is this a great game on its own, it's even better when you insert a Sonic the Hedgehog 3 cartridge at the top, combining the two games together into 1 big epic adventure! You can play as Knuckles the Echidna in all of the Sonic 3 stages, which is not possible when plugging Sonic 3 directly into the Genesis console without the Sonic & Knuckles cart. When plugging in a copy of Sonic the Hedgehog 2 on top of the Sonic & Knuckles cartridge, you get to play as Knuckles the Echidna throughout all the Sonic 2 stages, as well as retaining the ability to glide through the air and climb vertical walls, which is not possible with Sonic or Tails in the original game on its own. Highly recommended for all fans of Sonic the Hedgehog!

    A giant action platformer!

    What an iconic game. It comes with lock on technology, making it the biggest sonic adventure on genesis. This game alone is quite fun, with two different play styles and lots of extra zones. The graphics are so colorful and everything is so smooth. It all gets better when you connect Sonic 3 and make the playable characters now 3 and essentially combining both sets of levels!

    A new look at old technologies that I did not know about before :)
