historically interesting story of our ancestors
Intriguing use of fictional characters to tell the story of the real Jamestown. I like that it focuses on the women and portrays them as the very strong people they must have been to have undertaken such a venture and to have seen it through. The story lines of a corrupt and venal government and of the creation of the House of Burgesses and the arrival of the first black slaves in 1619 are also well done. Looking forward to season 3.

BBC sure knows how to tell a story!!
My husband and I are history buffs. We watched "Jamestown" together and it was excellent. It was done by BBC, so it tells the story from an English perspective. All the Jamestown settlers were English citizens and as far as we can tell, BBC did their research to make it as historically authentic as possible. They sure know how to tell a story!!

Good show! I hope they film a 3rd season.
I had already seen the first season on television and enjoyed it very much. Waiting for season 2 to come on TV was going to take too long so I ordered this DVD set. So far, so good. I've only seen two episodes. I'm not a binge watcher - I like to spread the series out so as to make it last longer.

fictional but addictive
I was looking for the first 2 seasons to enjoy on this well done production. It is fictional, but based on the times of that era. I only wish that this had been a continued series on public television. Season 3 was the last and I caught most of that on our local public station.

If you are looking for historical accuracy then pass by Jamestown, if you are interested in interesting characters and a solid plot twist and just good entertainment then buy Jamestown. I'm a man and historian and I enjoy the series immensely.
