    A Great Old Movie Masterpiece!

    They just don't make epic movies like this anymore. It's a very compelling, emotionally moving, suspenseful and adventurous love story in the same league as "Citizen Kane" and "Gone With The Wind". It's about the terrors and nightmares of a woman rising from abject poverty and also the highs and lows of love. It's unforgettable and influenced by Charles Dickens wonderful sad stories, I believe. For some strange reason it's getting hard to find for American audiences though, which is a damn shame. I had to buy it from a foreign country instead of the USA in a "Region Free" format instead of the usual NTSC Region 1 format, but luckily it worked / played in NJ.

    A great classic from one of the Brontë sisters. Melodramatic, heart tugging, and redemption. A young Elizabeth Taylor and Peggy Ann Garner helped form the brief and tragic friendship.
