So handy to have a "fresh" install loaded onto a refurbished HD to begin with. And close to current Win 10 distribution too. Just a few Windows updates and it was back to its former self. Always have a backup, always know where your installation discs are but if you have neither. Find yourself one of these on eBay (this vendor preferred by me) and begibe the process. Once complete it may be possible to recoverry of your personal stuff from the old HDD. I've found that the freezer trick works 3 out of 5 times for long enough to retrieve important stuff that should have been backed up before and often. If not, we are here and this worked for a abused laptop and was a flawless process. Yes you need to know a few things about hardware and software.
