This product works exactly as expected, and maybe even better. I charged it all day in the Sun before setting it up where I wanted in a less sunny spot, and it kept working on whatever charge it could get from the Sun. It was easy to figure out, easy to program, and easy to set up. I like that. My only concern with the product right now is "How well will it Winter?" Of course, I will bring it inside when the weather gets cold enough, but when it sits inside all Winter with no charge, and no Sun, how will the batteries hold up? Will I be able to charge it up again for another Summer of maintenance-free operation, or will the batteries be dead? And, if the batteries are dead, will I be able to replace them, or will the product be useless. Stay tuned to find out completely how I feel ... American pipe threads aren't compatible with english ones.
When it arrived I thought this was dead on arrival. It said to leave in in daylight for two hours, which I did, but nothing came alive. It took more like 24 hours. Perhaps it's just British November sunshine isn't the best source of energy. I had asked for a return by then, and will probably return it anyway because, although it seems to work, the thread for the tap is a female 3/4" NTP, and the output a male one of the same size. These do not fit British hose or plumbing fittings without leaking very badly and mullering the threads. It is possible to get adaptors. The input one, from the tap, you can get for about a tenner, but that means your tap has to be 1/2" BSP and normally they are 3/4" BSP. The output will, it seems, cost you about £30.
