    Superior story-telling with the bonus of providing an educated inside look at the culture of the U.S. Marine Corps. Book IV (Battleground) focuses on the United States' first major ground offensive of WW2: the pivotal campaign for Guadalcanal. It does so with historical accuracy. Griffin's weaving of fictional characters with historical icons is extraordinary. If you find history dry, this series is for you.
