About this product

Product Information

An examination of the subconscious mind and the discrepancies between 2D and 3D worlds, Crush is a unique, story-driven puzzle game for the PSP. Players take on the role of Danny, an insomniac whose sleep disorder eventually leads him to an institution. There he comes under the care of a Freudian psychologist named Dr. Reubens and his grand device of questionable acronym, the Cognitive Regression Utilizing Psychiatric Hueristics, or C.R.U.S.H. Thus, Danny embarks on a trip inside his malfunctioning psyche to find the root of his mental malady.

The game takes on the appearance of a traditional 3D platform adventure, with Danny meandering through more than 40 levels on a search for his lost marbles. The puzzle aspect comes when his mental blocks become physical blocks that prevent advancement, at which point he must "crush" the world from 3D to 2D. This flattening of the level geometry, combined with manipulation of the game camera perspective, will open new paths that eventually allow Danny to collect enough of his marbles to advance. Strewn about each level are various objects like barrels, metal balls, and pressure switches that gamers must interact with as well as giant cockroaches, nearly invisible blocks, and alarm clocks that will yank Danny from his dream world before he has solved his problem.

At first glance the game doesn't look like anything special. The description isn't necessarily exciting albeit interesting. However, once game play begins you soon realize that there's more to this puzzler than running around and exiting each level. Utilizing your character's ability to "crush" his 3D surroundings into a 2D side scrolling view, you are able to reach area's otherwise inaccessible. Its utilizing this crushing technique that moves you effectively through each level. The first few levels offer tutorials on how to move around, switching from side views to top views in order to get around then crushing in the appropriate view to get past obstacles. The puzzles naturally get tougher as you progress. The game controls are easy to master. Your character can "die" but drops ...

  • fun, entertaining, unique puzzle solving

Great puzzle game that truly uses a 3D environment to the fullest. The puzzles sometimes are easy but can also leave a player stumped for a good chunk of time. The added element of being able to switch between 3D and 2D on a puzzle is very neat and fun to control. Crush is a very fun and enjoyable game which I find to be surprising for a puzzle game. All in all this game can be addictive even after the game is no longer "new" to the player. The ingame story isn't bad and is surprisingly well voiced. I would highly recommend Crush to anybody that enjoys puzzle games even slightly. I almost gave this a 5/5 but there are a few aspects of the game, some moving obstacles for instance, that can become really irritating if not transverced with precision.

  • Great Puzzle Game

This is one of the better puzzle games I have ever played. If your a Fan of the Game, Echochrome for the PSP, you will enjoy this game just as much or maybe even more because this game actually has some graphics to it. It has 40 levels and extras to go back and collect. Is it worth the price? I would say so, it can get frustrating but thats the beauty of puzzle games, they make you think. Rating-Excellent in terms of Puzzle category.

  • Crush

This is a fun game if you like solving puzzle. Many hours of fun and gets harder as you progress. Switching between 2D and 3D really get you thinking outside the box.
