I decided I needed a rod for casting Midges to wild Brookies, but would be able to handle Stocker Rainbows as well as the occaisional wild Big Brownie. I think this rod will do it, and the price for the combo is fantastic. The reel is well balanced to the rod, balancing right in thre handgrip. I reminds me of the old Orvis Midge Rod of forty years ago. Would recommend.

The weight and balance is easier for him to walk with. He really enjoys having his own kit. The fly assortment is pretty good. I added some of our local favorites though.
