I have used these changers since the late 90s without any major problems. I have found with proper setup and maintenance they are a safe and reliable method of storing and playing large collections of CDs. They are sensitive to power surges so include one in your hookup. They are easy to work on, have great sound quality and service material is available. I am at a loss why Sony decided to stop production of this great product.

Great size for storing and playing more often your CD favorites. 400 or more would be just overwhelming. Sony makes a solid product that holds up over time and sounds great with RCA cable or Optical Cable connection. Keep the mechanism clean and oiled, it will last a long time. This model has the benefit of a saw-tooth belt drive instead of smooth pulley.

The CPD-CX230 is great because of how many CDs it holds compared to my old 25 CD player. A bit more difficult to manage the way CDs are played if you would like to customize.

the 200 disc cd changer is a good entry level unit and for the price its ok, however you can get a variety of 300-400 disc player with a lot higher quality for just a little more money, and the reliability of the other players far out play these 200 disc units. sound quality is decent on these 200 disc units but for me a few extra dollars and the capacity for an extra 100-200 discs makes this 200 cd unit obsolete and not a good option for anyone looking to store their cd collections

The player is old, but you can't tell by looking at it & works perfectly!
