I had looked for awhile to find something to measure 220v (Water Heater- clothes dryer). With some basic household wiring skills it was easy to hook up. If you don't have experience you should consult and electrician or someone who has experience because of the electrical shock hazards. During the install, I did not need to cut any of my wire but did need to strip back the outer insulation to thread the wire through the meter.. Every install may be different depending on where you want the meter. It looks like when I install this on the clothes drying (in the future) it will be likely that I will need to cut wire. Directions are not great as others have said. Meter is doing what I wanted for a decent price.

This is a good meter, however if you want to monitor the usage on one leg (120 volts) it will not work. It works just fine if you are monitoring both legs (22040 volts).
