    Solid HDD Model

    This is HDD is a reliable workhorse. Works great on Lenovo W, T and P models. I maintain a small reserve of the ST500LM021 to replace the existing internal HDDs of my technical consultants in the field as their drives fail due regular wear and tear, usually around 5 years. As we slowly transition to SSDs, these HDDs have a second life as a second internal drive where upgrades are possible and make sense; For example, most of our older machines are already i5 and i7 CPU. Many of these have an open 2nd internal bay or an internal DVD player that is convertible to HDD if you buy a HDD tray for $30. So basically on the cheap you can expand a perfectly good machine from 500MB to 1TB. We couldn't do this at the time of original laptop purchase due to prices and maker markups at the time. ...

    NVR use...not

    I guess I was expecting too much from a 2.5 form factor for surveillance. Playback starts with a pixelated image then a skip. I had an older WD it didn't do that. Oh well hopefully it will last until I get a WD purple or Seagates Surveillance.

    Great little HDD for the money!

    I prefer the smallish HDDs for the quicker seek times. This is a good compromise between size and speed. Especially for work, where a lot of my files are pretty small.

    New hard drive

    I bought a dell e6420 laptop with a bad hard drive. I purchased this 500 gig Seagate hard drive and it performs flawlessly, very quiet and fast. It is the 7200 rpm model which makes it really fast when doing intensive work.

    Consistent Performance & Quality Build - Hands-Down!

    I've bought a good number of Seagate hard drives over the years, HDD, SSD, Mac, Win, desktops and laptops, you name it. I've also encountered other "comparable" brands like WD and Hitachi, but I prefer Seagate drives and choose Seagate drives when it's my decision to do so. They are just consistently reliable, sturdy, hard-working drives and I have never been disappointed in the performance and longevity of my Seagate drives. I also find Seagate's download utility tools top notch. Just a great package all-around.
