Right out of the packaging, I used the thumbwheel and it's nice and tight and smooth as you move it. It came in a very nice hard case with black foam cut out to hold the calipers, plus two batteries and a small zip bag with a screwdriver and extra screws for the battery door. It feels and looks like a quality item. And it was shipped quickly, and the communication was excellent. A+!

(However: This iGaging OriginCal caliper is the new 2024 version with added AUTO-ON and a 5 min. AUTO-OFF that eats batteries like crazy. Old version had only manual OFF but it ran on 1.5 micro Amps in OFF state and 23 micro Amps when turned ON. The new version takes 26 micro Amps OFF and 70 micro Amps ON. It will deplete the battery in less than 12 months, even if never used. )
