Rack and Pinion for 97 E-420
The steering shaft spline was a little damaged, as if were dropped. I could not get the knuckle to slide onto the shaft. After filing the groves on the spline, I was able to make it work. Installed yesterday and after alignment it works great. I’d only comment that somebody check that spline before shipping. I also thought the tie rod ends of the boots should of had the metal clamps instead of plastic zip ties that will break due to heat in the near future. The inside boots were properly clamped with metal, so I don’t understand why the outside was not. No big deal, I can do that. Overall I’m satisfied but a little disappointed I had to take a file to the spline to make the knuckle work. My only option was to return it for another rack but the customer needed his car fixed so I did the ... The steering shaft spline was a little damaged, as if were dropped.
