Synopsis
Written by renowned scholar Bernard Lewis, The Emergence of Modern Turkey has established itself as the preferred one-volume history of modern Turkey. It covers the emergence of Turkey over two centuries, from the decline and collapse of the Ottoman Empire up to the present day. In a new chapter, Lewis discusses the origins of his book in the Cold War era and the events that have taken place since its first publication in 1961. This new edition addresses Turkey's emergence as a decidedly Western-oriented power despite internal opposition from neutralists and Islamic fundamentalists. It examines such issues as Turkey's inclusion in NATO and application to the European Union, and its involvement with the politics of the Middle East. Authoritative and insightful, The Emergence of Modern Turkey remains the classic text on the history of modern Turkey., Written by renowned scholar Bernard Lewis,The Emergence of Modern Turkeyhas established itself as the preferred one-volume history of modern Turkey. I messaged the seller, concerned that no photos were posted. I had questions abt this specific book's condition. Vladimir promptly replied, that inventory was too large to be able to comment on this specific book, but could be returned if unhappy. So I bought it, and am very happy. The price was very competitive, in better condition than I had expected, and sent in a shipping bag. There was no other packing/wrapping which may be an issue for some but wasn't for me. Recommending seller!

+Items as described. +Shipped quickly +Good value for price -Multiple books ordered and were wrapped together in one thin plastic bag with no internal protection, so when the bag ripped (in transit, USPS), the books were exposed to the elements. Good thing they weren’t too badly damaged upon arrival. Shipping was delayed, but that was on USPS, not the seller. -Books were a little stale smelling, but to be expected with used books in an uncontrolled environment ++Overall, seller recommended!
