Not sure if that was the condition before or if it happened in transit, but it would packed decent enough. The Kindle did not have the original box which was noted in the sellers description so I was surprised that the Kindle was shipped in a bubble mailer envelop with only 1 layer of bubble wrap around it. I thought for sure the Kindle was going to be damaged but luckily it was not. I am very happy with my purchase!

I was a bit surprised though that the box it comes in was the way it was shipped to me but was sealed on ends with EBay tape. I expected it to be shipped in another box to prevent damage but in spite of that, the machine seems to be in perfect condition and working. It looks pristine and had all the parts and paperwork that was supposed to come with it.
