Our world is swarming with invisible organisms - bacteria and fungi that affect their hosts and environments in diverse ways. This text looks at the mysterious microscopic world of microbes and investigates how they behave, and why. It tells stories of how scientists have discovered the laws of behaviour of the world of microbes, including the principles of locomotion, navigation, survival, reproduction and communication. In addition, the text relates the behaviour of bacteria and other microbes to our more familiar world and shows their impact on our lives.

The quality of the vintage product was great and exactly as described by the seller. Box was in good condition and definitely worth the value paid for it. Seller showed great correspondence throughout, sent more photos, so I could see more shots on other sides of the box as well as answer my queries. Really helpful throughout and protected the product well with lots of bubblewrap and paper. Brilliant seller that I'd recommend using again.

This was my first purchase from jbeer87, which was an A+ experience! I appreciate the clear photos of the item in the listing. There was great communication regarding shipping arrangements and my fragile item was packed with care for safe travels. Jbeer87 is a trustworthy, reliable seller I would happily do repeat business with again.

  • Quite fascinating

Though this book was published twenty years ago it still presents an exploration of life at the microscopic level that should prove fascinating for most of us. It is well written and relatively easy to understand considering the complexity of the subject. Just how do bacteria function with no brain or central nervous system? How to they interact with their environment, find food and even move? Do the physical principles of the world we experience function differently for them? Just a few questions to spark your curiosity. I found it so intriguingI have given several copies as gifts.
