Synopsis
James R. Durand served on three American war vessels, including the USS Constitution (Old Ironsides), was taken prisoner of war, and then impressed into the British Navy. For seven years he served under that foreign flag and during the War of 1812, aboard the British frigate Narcissus, he refused to obey orders to take part in the bombardment of Stonington, Connecticut, where he had relatives. He was almost hanged. The journal ends with Durand's release from the British Navy and return to his home, Milford, Connecticut.

- l***o (516)- Feedback left by buyer.Past monthVerified purchaseOne of my favorite stories is of How Peter Hurkos became psychic. I ordered the book from VK Rares and Classics. His packaging of the book was superior to most book sellers. He bubble-wrapped the book so that it was well protected and shipped it in a tight fitting mailing sleeve. The book arrived safely, and i am happy with it and VK Rares and Classics's service. I was also jappy with his pricing. The book was as described.
