This point-and-shoot device features a factory Sony lens with a 5x digital zoom and 10x optical zoom in addition to reduced blur features thanks to Sony's SteadyShot image stabilization system. A simplified menu in Easy Mode allows even the most inexperienced photographer to take an incredible shot with the impressive 1/2.3-inch Super HAD CCD sensor. Film videos as well with 720p video recording capability. Weighing in at 4.7 ounces, the DSC-W800 is light and compact, yet extremely functional. This Sony camera offers autofocus features such as face detection, contrast detection, and tracking, along with a panorama mode that provides you with a 360-degree viewing angle for landscape shots. This compact camera does more than a smartphone camera does, but with measurements of 2 inches by 7/8 inches by 2 ¼ inches, it’s designed to fit as comfortably in your pocket as any smartphone. The DSC-W800 has a dedicated movie button, so you start filming in a snap without having to fuss around with complicated controls. The built-in Party Mode also lets you take gorgeous, vivid shots without having to miss out on any of the fun. The photographer can get into the frame for group shots or selfies thanks to the self-timer that gives you the ability to choose a two-second or 10-second delay. Turn on the Grid Line option to have a handy guide appear on the LCD screen to help you compose your shots. The Face Detection option detects up to eight faces in the viewing area and automatically adjusts the exposure, focus, flash, and other settings to capture your subjects in their best light. A popular phenomenon in the world of photography is creating photos that appear as if they were taken with toy cameras. This Cyber-shot has a Toy Camera setting that enables you to effortlessly capture images with an artistic tunnel effect that mimics the look of photos taken with actual toy cameras. You can also choose Pop Color mode for images that look like Pop art. This Sony w800 makes it simple to create stunning photo effects that previously you’d have to spend hours working in photo editing software to achieve. The wide-angle 26 mm lens on the w800 lets you zoom out to capture the whole scene instead of only a little part of it. A wide angle is very useful for an indoor photography shoot or anytime you’re shooting in a limited space. It also is fantastic for taking landscape shots that capture the wide-open feeling of a place. This digital camera has about 29MB of internal digital memory, and it also has a memory-card slot that can take an MS Duo memory card or an SD-type memory card for additional storage. Connect the Cyber-shot to your computer with a USB cable for downloading photos and videos and for charging. The rechargeable battery is made to last for 100 minutes of continuous shooting between charges, and it is also charged using the included AC adapter.     A great value for the dollar!

    I have not had the opportunity to use all of the features of this camera yet but the picture quality is satisfactory. I find it easy to use. I haven't opened the instruction booklet yet. Maybe I should, the camera probably has features worth exploring if I knew they were there! LOL! I feel the price was more than fair and all of the included accessories make this package a super deal.

    but i finditto fragile to use too small .

    not to my liking but it might be a good camera but im not comfortable with size . its too fragile . too light i feel its like a toy . im sorry i dont want to use this tupe of camera.

    Not too bad for the price, but the other Sony's are better

    The biggest problem is the delay in the camera for taking a picture. It is slow, and once you push the button, you have to remain still for a second before it registers or it blurs the picture. It is also a little larger than the sure-shot model. It doesn't take as good as low light pictures as the sure-shot, probably because they blur too easily. Other than that, it is not bad for the price. The battery has a good life between recharges, so that is very helpful.

    Great budget camera

    If you are looking for a 20MP camera on a budget this is a great choice. While the image quality when zooming in under low light isn't always ideal it does shoot crisp pictures in most all settings. I inserted a microSD card left over from one of my phones and used a SD adapter to fit it in the camera. It immediately recognized it and it has been easy to pull pictures off of the camera when I need to. If you are expecting vivid HD images then this camera isn't for you as I did find I got a lot of slightly blurred images or fuzzy ones in the dark because the camera let too much *light noise* in from things like scoreboards, neon lighting, and table lamps. I had to play around with the settings to find the appropriate shooting mode for many locations but a day or two of playing with it and I ...

    Simple Camera

    We wanted a simple, small camera to replace our larger one that did not fit well in a pocket. So far we are please with the Sony. We have also used a Canon Elph, which has more features. Both are good choices.
