The story of the Mutsu has reached the mid-19th century in VOLUME FOUR, collecting episodes 15-18 of the Animé series. Japanese society, from the poorest peasant to the Imperial shogunate, is shocked when the boats of Commodore Matthew Perry arrive to force international trading upon the insular society. Swordsman Ryoma Sakemoto resists the Tokugawa shoguns, and the arrival of the Westerners helps his cause. Unbeknownst to all, however, is that his new friend Izumi Mutsu is a powerful warrior, and whichever political side he chooses could turn the tide.
