    Getting to really know chickens.

Our flock is my first experience with chickens. The book gave me insight on chickens from before they're born through adulthood, all aspects of their behaviors. I enjoyed the personal anecdotes the author included from her flock. Since I already spend a lot of time with our chickens, I'm anxious to try some of the suggestions in the book on recognizing their various intonations. When I'm with them in their coop or run, I talk to them all the time in English as if they would understand. I know that they don't, so it will be great to be able to use some of their "phrases" to communicate with them.

  • So good!

I have not, yet, completed the book, but I love it already! If you are interested in communicating with your chickens, this is the book. My 8 year old loves this book and tells us an interesting fact every time she comes across one. And is teaching us how to interact with our chickens! It is a very interesting and helpful book, and is a bit whimsical, in the way that I can tell by her writing that the author loves her chickens as much as we do our girls.
