Pentax K-70 is a great value!
The build quality of the camera and 18-135mm kit lens is outstanding! The camera fits nicely in the hand with a reasonable heft without it being a huge distraction. The adjustable screen is a great convenience and works well. Shutter noise is acceptable, much better than on my previous Pentax DSLR. Picture quality is also excellent, with some fuzziness only at the extreme telephoto setting. Focus is also immediate, but when using the lens as a macro there is an easy to use focusing ring to help with fine adjustments. The owners manual is typical for the genre: it doesn’t tell you how to use the camera as much as it is an encyclopedia of what each button does. The best teacher is always experience, and in the digital age when you can throw away 90% of your shots without great expense, there’s no excuse for not experimenting. The battery is proprietary, but cheaper substitutes for backups are available. The battery life is excellent. I have found the videos the camera takes somewhat disappointing (my iPhone takes better!); I can not recommend this camera for its video mode. It’s there in case you need it. I keep the ASA setting at 3200 and get consistently excellent pictures in a wide range of natural light. The built in flash is amazingly good for taking pictures within 15 feet. All of my legacy Pentax lenses have worked seamlessly with the camera body, so no issues there whatsoever.Verified purchase: YesCondition: Pre-owned

A step up
For me it is a step up from the Pentax Kx. Images seem sharper. The capability of adding a GPS unit is awesome. Unlike other reviews I am very pleased with the battery life.
