It is not practical for making large amounts (although there is a larger size if you want to do this). It is for that small cup of intense coffee that is enjoyed in Italy and other European countries. I looked for the coffee maker on a two-week trip to northern Italy this summer and saw one in the window, but the store was closed. This one was twice the price of the one in Italy, but still worth it!
