    Hedgehog homage on the 3DS

    The first thing I want to call attention to is the fact that the 3DS version of this game was co-developed by Dimps, a company with a favorable legacy in terms of Sonic's appearances on handhelds. That sense of "legacy" shows in the expert craftsmanship of the game's levels: they are neither too similar nor too far separated from their inspiration and pack a number of subtle twists that prove inviting for high score experimentation. The core of this version's appeal is in level replay which I have no qualms toward considering as they are some of the best I have played since the Mega Drive days. Invite your friend's over or play over wifi to compete for best times head to head in versus mode or alternatively, submit your scores to a global rankings board in time attack mode.
