I bought this light after reading alot of reviews on how well it preformed for the price. I have not been disappointed. This is a very sharp lens for the money. It focuses very fast, it does not however, have a focus ring. For some that may be a deal breaker but i don't find it to be a big deal. The few draw backs to this lens is, it does not focus up close. At 55mm the focus distance is around 3 feet. The aperture is tied in tho the focal range. Meaning that zooming in and out will have an effect on the minimum aperture number you will be able to get. This is common in cheaper lenses but for most hobbyist and amateurs you probably won't find this to be to much of a problem. I would have to say that if you were just getting into portrait photography this would be a good little lens to have on hand. It gives you all the major portrait lengths, 85,105,120, and 135. Add a 50mm prime with at least an f2 min aperture and you have a great starting point. Read full review

Sadly when I got this I was in love with it my first session I used it on it messed up multiple times so I switched lens the second shoot it did the same thing when I went to take photos in a close zoom the lens was jumping and wouldn't let me take photos, sadly it's very frustrating using this lens so I will probably have to purchase a new one I don't have to worry about.

Lightweight and has a very good focal length. Fast focusing and in excellent shape. I'm going to use this lens shortly going to Bristol Motor speedway and the Nascar night race there. A zoom lens is the lens you need for a race. Being able to shoot people close and also the cars as they blast by you at over 150 miles an hour. I'll be able to use the lens even more at Dollywood later in the week. Can't wait to see the pics I'll take.

Excellent optics, quiet focus operation, smooth motion, but NOISY VR mechanics. It does make superb images, but the clatter of the VR and the PLASTIC mount does leave it on a lower scale of lens. For a company like NIKON to resort to CHEAP PLASTIC mounts is simply unforgivable..

This the second one I have owned. I had a whole bag of lense that include this one and everything else up to 500x. (Sadly, all were stolen on my last vacation.) This was always my "go to" lens. It was the lens I kept mounted all the time. When I began replacing my equipment this was the first addition I made.

It is a good lens I've been just buying and buying for my camera and I'm glad I got this lens used and much cheaper than what a new one goes for.

Light weight and versatile. It has a sharp picture, it's not too big to carry around. 55mm isn't too telephoto for snapping pictures of everyday objects. Then you can zoom in on a bird on a limb. This is perfect for my D3300. I've also used it for close up shots by adding a lens extension, then it makes for a nice Macro. Just make sure to get extensions that will work with your camera.

The lens ordered was perfect. For a used lens, there were no flaws detected. Lens work perfectly in auto mode. This was a great addition to my collection.

Lens was in great shape, no issues what so ever. Received and immediately took photos to check the Auto Focus, and zoom of lens. All worked very good.

This a bargain lens that fills multiple roles. I use it for bird watching, but it is also great for sports action. At 200 mm, it does sacrifice a little for extreme distance, but to go any longer becomes cost prohibitive.
