Oh man, easily one of the best purchases off of eBay, ever. Amazing customer service from communications right down to how securely packaged the books were, not to mention the condition of the book. These books are in BETTER condition than listing stated. 7-Westerns from 1950 to 1975, all of which looked brand new, except one or two gave the appearance of having been read. I couldn't believe it, no old smells, ripped pages. This is seller is absolutely amazing. Thank you again, mdcomix!

  • Picnic at Hanging Rock DVD

This is a classic Australian mystery, sometimes called "horror", film with quite a cult following. The novel is great reading. The film is well written, acted and filmed. The "eerie" atmosphere of the film is achieved with simple techniques rather than special effects and computer generation. The mystery is not resolved by the end of the film. We are using it in a homeschool film studies class. If you are going to purchase a copy of this film, keep in mind that the "Director's" version is actually shorter than the original version. I think by about 8 minutes or so. Also, the DVD versions are produced in formats that only work with DVD machines in specific parts of the world. Make sure that your DVD player will play the format that you are ...

  • Creepy.

Peter Weir film that NEVER answers what truly happens. This film is remarkable. The pan flute music, the beauty of Australia, the feeling of isolation, multiple motives with no answers. This is a very hard to find film......it was only rereleased on DVD a few years ago and it took many bids for me to get it here on ebay. I would catagorize it a a cult classic about the disappearance of school girls in Victorian Australia during an outing to Hanging Rock. Not for the simple mainstream viewer...but for those of you who like exceptional, eclectic films this is a must see.

  • Picnic At Hanging Rock

This is a realistic, if fictional, well acted story. The settings and plot development are what one would expect from a period drama. I am very surprised this film was not nominated for some major rewards. The direction is excellent. There are nuances in the film that lead the viewer to speculate on different directions while the main plot moves forward. It is a film that can be seen several times for different perspectives. Australian filmmaking should be proud of this one.

  • A film of unrivalled beauty

Peter Weir's film practically defies analysis or summation. Not really a horror film as some liner notes may assert, and nothing like the milky Merchant Ivory productions that its cover may remind you of, Weir's 1979 film is a nearly plotless, slow arc of feminine mystery and sublimated yearning that is absolutely spellbinding to the viewer of intelligence. It is a film that sits with you long after the first viewing, its impression building over time, like Wordsworth's definition of poetry as "the spontaneous overflow of emotion recollected in tranquility"... it is that later recollection that will leave its indelible mark on the sensetive viewer.

  • light bill with great scenes.
