    Classic Opeth at their best

This is a great live performance recording. It's a little slow to get going, as the first several tracks are from "Damnation", Opeth's most mellow album. But they play some of the classics later in the show, and the energetic performance is really awesome to observe. All in all, this is great concert DVD, and prog metal fan should find it appealing.

  • Lamentations will not dissapoint.

The bonus feature on the making of deliverance and damnation was absolutely amazing. I watched it twice right away, and it's over an hour long! I actually got stressed just watching it because of the pressure placed on the band members to produce 2 simultaneous cds so well done and so fast. Apart from that, the live stuff was really well done except for a few things I was somewhat bummed about... Opeth didn't perform any Still Life or Orchid stuff, and some of my personal favorites are from those two cds. They also didn't show alot of the viewpoints you would've hoped for during the songs due to copyright issues (such as the cool drum solo in windowpane;0) All-in-all, I was impressed at the live stuff, and the fact that i'm going to see them in 7 days live is even moreso amazing :P Buy ...

  • I am an Opeth fan. This is a great dvd. My favorites are Windowpane and Death Whispered A Lullabye. A must for any fan.

  • Awesome show and direction

Just incredible, if you ask me. In this dvd the band shows both of their most mellow and heavy sides, with great results, believe me. I've been listening Opeth since 10 years more or less, and i still get amazed how they can put in the same show songs like "Hope Leaves" and "Deliverance", or even in the same song, check out "Masters Apprentice"... Maybe i cannot be very objective, because I LOVE Opeth. But besides music, i have to say that the direction is very good also, soft and slow in the first half of the show (where the music is mellow) and very fast and with sort of violence the heavy part. Just accompanying the music, and i feel that it's the right way to watch a show. Like the director is there with the crowd. Believe me, you will enjoy it as if you were there.

  • It's worth owning!

It was interesting to me to see the Damnation album played live. If you are familiar with how they stitched that together in the studio -- well, if you aren't, there's a documentary included on this DVD on that too -- then it will interest you to see it played raw. Four musicians playing live on stage. No redos, no overdubs. Thinking about the documentary portion, they give each player equal representation. It's not all just Mikael. Porcupine Tree's Steven Wilson is here in the documentary as well. It's just a neat package. I've watched it several times already and have it handy to play it again before too long. I have a friend who owns it and recommended it to me. We have discussed it between us. It is that insightful.
