Hi there, we sold over 50 of these already and never had an issue with the slide - we check them carefully but this is a tricky one. What you'll have to do is open the latch first completely, instead of sliding it from the edge, you'll have to press down really hard (if you have the batteries inside) where the lock / unlock lever is located and slide it back while still pressing down. You should be able to completely shut this with no problem.

    Delivered late, error on first use.

    **update** Gourmia responded that no warranty is available on this product as it was purchased open box and third party. So now I have spent $70 on a device that does not work. *original*This thing malfunctioned the first time I used it. It was delivered 3 days late which is understandable for Christmas time, but I got an E1 error the first use and it burned the food inside. I have started a claim directly with gourmia and am awaiting to find out if this is eligible for the one year warranty since it is refurbished and open box. I will update my review when I hear back.
