This DVD player is a combo player and can play either media type without the need for peripheral equipment. The Emerson DVD player even comes with a built in TV tuner to allow users to enjoy television signal through the same device that can play both VHS and DVD. The Emerson EWD2204 is constructed with a WHS HQ setting, a fur head construction, and a 19-micron head feature to make for quality video playback. This DVD player is designed to provide wide compatibility with ease of use. The Emerson DVD player gives users a choice to watch and enjoy either a VHS media collection or a DVD collection through its dual VCR/DVD technology.

    Product was good for the price and age.

    I loved the product, however the DVD player insert/eject platform gets stuck sometimes. With a little pressure it will draw the disc in properly.     Our family gets a lot of use out of this great player!

    The reason I was attracted to this particular player in the first place was the price--its tag was around $200 a few months ago. All of its features and the fact that it plays both DVDs and VHS tapes made it even more attractive. We've owned it for about eight months, and it has gotten a lot of use without a single glitch. As a family who uses machines like this heavily, we are not the most delicate users of these products. As a result, I can say that I think it's durable and well-worth the money.

    VCR DVD combo unit

    I was looking for a real VCR paired up with a DVD. We used to be able to buy them, but apparently not any more. I wanted a VCR that would allow me to tape one channel and watch another. The new ones don't allow you to do that. I guess VCR's are being weeded out for DVD's. I still have video tapes of my kids, etc that I want to watch. This unit was just what I was looking for. I works exactly like a true VCR should. I love it.
